Standards Cataloging
1. Standards for Cataloging
~MARC records should be purchased from Follett or Perma-Bound at time of book purchase.
~Use Smartport through SirsiDynix using INFOhio and Library of Congress option first and then World Cat last.
~AACR2 will be followed when records are unavailable to be purchased or Smartported.
~Subject headings will come from loc.gov. Sears and Dewey Classification System can also be helpful.
~Five subject headings are the preferred amount, paying particular attention to the needs of the teachers. For example, the English department does Native American projects. If a book references Native Americans, it would be helpful to make this a subject heading so that students can find books easily that will allow them to do research for English.
